I looked up at the sun setting, slowly disappearing behind the smeared watercolors of the sun. I thought to myself, so what lies ahead of the ocean? Is it a monstrous waterfall leading to the end of earth? In 1492, when Columbus sailed the crystal blue water, he found that he could prove men wrong of the earth being round and not a pancake. Though they discovered that a very long time ago, and people still believe it, other people may have different theories. So my question is, what lies ahead of the ocean and horizon?(Emma)

I had just arrived at my dance rehersal with a few moments to spare ready and excided to start the dance day wondering, ….so, what lies ahead of me.. maybe a lyricle dance or maybe contemperary, jazz, acro, tap, hip hop, ballet, or even point.

We were 14,000 feet up on Mount Bierstadt as my legs began to give out. It had been hours since we first set eyes on the huge mountain and now I wished we hadn’t even started. I forced myself to move my feet. Right, left, right, left. Just a couple hundred more feet. All I could think was, so, what lies atop this gargantuan mountain? My breathing got harder and my will to make it was withering. Then suddenly the ground flattened out and I realized I had made it.

I woke up and was so excited for baseball today. I was playing in a tournament with a new team and was ready to show them that I was great. When I was in the car on the way to the field I thought. What lies ahead of me? When I got to the field I met some of the kids I didn’t know and warmed up. Finally, the game started and I was batting cleanup. I got a hit to left field and thought so that was what was in front of me. (Tyler)

I stood at the podium shaking uncontrollably as if a gargantuan earthquake was happening in the middle of my Bar Mitzvah. Guests started to quiet down, and all eyes were on me. I slowly relaxed as I engulfed myself in pride as I recited the prayers that I worked so hard on, but my Torah portion awaits, so, what lies ahead of me, mistakes and nervousness or pure joy? I walked up the stairs shaking and shivering, getting the courage to open the door to the attic. What lies ahead of the attic door. Me and my brother have been hearing noises from the attic since the first time we bought this house, which was about 2 weeks ago. Maybe it’s a murderer, or a dead body. We love to think about all the possibilities that could be in the attic above. We finally made up our minds and decided to open the door to the attic. I kicked it open and screamed. Yesterday as the athletes lined up on the block starts and anticipation in the crowd grew strong, the competitors of the swim race began to ponder, so what lies ahead of the starting whistle. Will they be the ones to bring gold to their proud families in the future, or go home with only the memory of their experience? Everyone wanted to win but only a few ambitious swimmers could make the cut. What lied ahead to bring success and defeat to these people? The past gave them strength in the present activities they did and brought possible joyful fates.  (Andra)
